Who publishes this
Genomes (genomes.news) is published by DNA Romance Inc., a small genetics company in Vancouver, Canada. We build consumer and research genetics products: DNA Romance, Gene Pool and DateMetriX among them. We read the primary genomics literature and press every day for our own work, and this site is where we publish what we find.
How stories are made
- We read public feeds from journals, press-release services and science desks to see what is new.
- For each item we open the original source: the paper, the preprint, the institution's press release, or the regulator's notice.
- We write a three-sentence report from that original material and link to it. We do not copy the press release or another outlet's text.
- We label preprints as not yet peer reviewed, and say plainly when a result is in mice or in cells.
Reports are drafted by our newsroom software and reviewed by the team. Corrections: [email protected]. We will fix the story, note the correction, and credit you if you wish.
Our own work, and conflicts of interest
We sometimes report on research or product news from DNA Romance Inc. or its partners. Those stories carry an "Our work" label, are written to the same standard as everything else, and link to the primary source (a preprint, a paper or a public release). We do not report on our own unpublished results. Our products are linked in the footer of every page so the relationship is never hidden.
What this site is not
Nothing on Genomes is medical advice. Research findings described here are research use only and do not mean a test, therapy or product is available, approved or right for you. If a story concerns your health, talk to a clinician or a genetic counsellor.
Advertising
There is none today. If we add any, it will be one clearly marked placement, never between paragraphs, never disguised as a story.
