GWAS Catalog adds 284 summary statistics datasets and 6 billion variant trait statistics
The NHGRI-EBI GWAS Catalog added 284 full P value summary statistics datasets containing 6 billion individual variant trait statistics as of September 2018. The database now holds 5,687 genome wide association studies and 71,673 variant trait associations from 3,567 publications. The update included targeted array data and a new RESTful API for automated access. The Catalog also introduced a proposed community standard format for summary statistics data representation, based on work standardizing heterogeneous submissions and harmonizing content.
The database gives researchers standardized genetic association data to investigate disease mechanisms and identify potential therapeutic targets.
